Here are a few tips from us, including sights, which you can reach comfortable and easy from our holiday-apartments/rooms in Salzburg
Salzburg means diversity 365 days a year.
The sights, the music festivals, the fairs, the city mountains, the Lake District, the Salzkammergut, the shopping options in the Old Town as well as at the nearby Shopping Center (Europark), the greatest accumulation of gourmet restaurants - all these are just some of the attributes of this wonderful city.
Apart from the most significant sights such as the Fortress Hohensalzburg, the Hellbrunn Castle and the Zoo slightly outside the city borders and of course Mozart's Birth Place in Getreidegasse or his Salzburg Residence, there naturally are lots of further discoveries to be made in this city. Just take a few steps with us:
If you like reaching for the summit right away in the morning, set off to the panorama terrace on Kapuzinerberg Mountain (Hettwer-Bastei) and enjoy the view of the countless rooftops gleaming up so charmingly from down there. Paying a little attention you won't miss the church "St. Joahnn am Imberg" on your descent - a little gem in this city which can only be reached by foot. It's accordingly tranquil there and at night various little bars invite you to linger for a while in this "quieter" part of town. Should you start feeling hungry while strolling through town, just head for the so-called "Grünmarkt" ("Green Market") on Universitätsplatz (University Square.) Here, numerous market stalls invite you to buy and enjoy small delicacies. No matter the age: anyone who is hungry is sure to find something here.
When you feel like something more modern is on the agenda, visit the Museum der Moderne (Museum of Modern Art) on Mönchsberg Mountain. Under good weather conditions, a subsequent visit to the adjacent cafe and enjoying the view down onto the Old Town is virtually a must. For fans of nature and technology, the Haus der Natur (House of Nature) is definitely rewarding. You can easily spend a whole day there. Or visit Schloss Mirabell (Mirabell Castle) with its magnificent baroque gardens, where it's wonderful to sit in the sun alongside the castle wall. A real treat. Here you are also on the doorstep of the Mozarteum (along with its event halls), a world renown music university. How about Mozart's Residence or the Dreifaltigkeitskirche (Trinity Church)? Both are located across the Landestheater (State Theatre) on Markartplatz Square.
If you like treading on the traces of the past we recommend a visit to St. Sebastian Cemetery. Among others, Leopold, Mozart's father, and Mozart's widow Constanze have their final resting place here. But also the doctor, alchemist and philosopher Paracelsus, who died in 1541 and whose civil name was Theophrastus Bombastus von Hohenheim, is buried there. "Nannerl", Mozart's sister, however, is buried at St. Peter Cemetery together with many other famous people. This, by the way, is one of the oldest cemeteries in the world, situated not far from Kapitelplatz Square and the Cathedral of Salzburg. A stop there is definitely worth it, as well as visiting the "Domquartier" which opened in 2014 and where a variety of different exhibitions can be marvelled at. If you finally find yourself hungry now we can recommend Chiemseegasse, one of the tiniest alleyways in town, located close to the Cathedral. An abundance of small restaurants and pubs can be found here. Almost every building in the street houses one of them.
Maybe you would like to take a memorable photo as a keepsake? The statue of Mozart is a popular motif amongst visitors to Salzburg and will surely appeal to you. You are sure to find many more gorgeous scenes that are not just worth photographing. Salzburg and Hotel Amedeo Zotti Residence are looking forward to welcoming you!
